Objective Based Code and Alternative Solution Course (2-Day)

Course Description:

This course provides the foundation that Code professionals require to better support understanding and adoption of objective-based codes across Canada.  This course will introduce the 2020 NBC structure and its objective-based application as well as how the model national codes have been developed. The course will also discuss the relationship between the acceptable solutions and objective-based intents assigned to those provisions. It will build the appreciation and understanding of code intent, objective and functional statements and their role in producing alternative solutions that demonstrate the same level of performance as prescriptive acceptable solutions.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Compare the speed and ease of acceptable solution compliance with the innovative and custom approach of alternative compliance.
